Everything that can be code, will be code

Saying "make this transition snappier" and watching it happen is magic.

This week Rod Rivera unintentionally converted me to the “everything that can be code, will be code” thesis.

I asked on Slack if we were working with a video editor. I wanted help making my social videos look more polished.

An hour later Rod came back with a scaffold for building videos programmatically using Claude Code.

Here’s the setup:

  • Video layout, animations, transitions — all defined in code using Remotion. Backgrounds, colours, fonts configured to be on-brand.
  • Whisper creates timestamped transcripts so Claude can sync animations with what I’m saying.

Now I just talk to Claude and get professional-looking videos without ever learning video editing software.

The traditional approach would be: hire a video editor, send them rough cuts, wait for revisions, build up a backlog. Or learn Premiere myself (never gonna happen) and spend hours clicking through timelines.

Saying “make this transition snappier” and watching it happen is magic.

(actual video coming tomorrow, probably!)
